I love creamy food once in a while but I primarily stay away from it because of the high fat content. Luckily, there are other alternatives to using cream such as low fat yogurt, low fat sour cream or 2% milk. My recent, and most favourite, discovery was this kind of low fat yogurt that has 1% milk fat at 90 calories per cup (approximately). It has to be the creamiest, plain yogurt I’ve ever come across. Use it in your curries, soups and pastas! As a bonus, these alternatives add a tangy flavour to your dishes making them taste brighter!

Stop buying dry roasted nuts at the store. They’re incredibly bad for you with all of the salt and other added fats roasted along with them. Instead, toast your own plain nuts in a non-stick pan over high heat. It takes about 1 minute or less and you can toss them in some fine salt afterwards. Since nuts already have their own fats and oils, toasting them in a pan will cause these oils to emerge and allow the salt to stick. There’s really no need to add oil to the situation.
