In Short.
Life changed in April 2009 when my husband and I stayed up late and a presumably fateful infomercial came on TV. Thirty some pounds later (or lighter, really) I am up late on a Friday night reflecting while I reset my blog home. These days, my body is a temple and I repeat this statement often. I guess it serves as a reminder of where I am now compared to a year ago. A heavier body made for a heavy mind. Now, with a lighter body and mind (and over half of my extensive wardrobe donated) I have discovered how to live better, eat well and eat happy!
Food & Me.
I am Anne Parsons, a business analyst with a passion for food. I have loved food since I can remember and largely due to the influence of my parents. Mom taught me many tricks about cooking and eating. Things like how to eat whole fish with bones in, or how to marinate meat prior to steaming… all those things bring back great memories of being at home and being around Mom. As for Dad, he was a chef at a popular Chinese restaurant in the city for many, many years. The best tip he ever gave me was how to tell when a wonton is cooked through.
The recipes posted on my blog are based a lot on what I learned in the past year. My intention now is to share and socialize. Eating well is one aspect but eating the right things was the part I was missing. To my surprise, I learned about something called, Michi’s Ladder, a tiered food chart that lists what you can eat to attain a certain level of nutrition health. I am somewhere between the Happy Tier and the Swiss Tier these days but I will happily walk down to the Dodgy Tier once in a while for a treat
. Hopefully though, if you stay in the happy median that I’m in then maybe you’ll see positive changes in yourself too!
Seriously, the 4th tier in Michi’s Ladder is really called the “Dodgy Tier”. No lie!
What Next?
I’m going to cook my little heart out. This blog is your window to it. Many people have asked me if I’m going to continue to lose weight. Well, since I’ve surpassed my original goal I think I’m just going to take it easy and keep on with my usual routine of exercise and healthy eating. A recent reality check with the BMI chart showed I am 5lbs heavier than I should be, but I’m not going to sweat it. If I happen to lose it then great. If not, no problem.
